Jordan Announces Oil Shale Exploration Opportunities

The Jordanian Ministry of Investment has announced new opportunities for oil shale exploration and extraction through an online platform, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.

The offer is to develop and invest in infrastructure assets in more than 18 known oil shale sites in Jordan, the platform stated.

These sites include al-Lajjun, al-Sultani, Jurf al-Darawish, al-Attar, Umm al-Ghadran, Wadi Maghar, Suwaqa, Khan al-Zubaib, and al-Thamd. It is also found in the areas of Wadi al-Adhiyah, Wadi al-Nadhiyah, Asfir al-Mahatta, the Ghazimah Mountains, and Wadi Abu al-Hamam.

Data provided by the platform suggests that oil shale is a secure, long-term solution that can satisfy Jordan’s energy needs.
