Mellitah Awards a Contract to Saipem for Developing Bouri Gas Utilisation Project in Libya

Mellitah Oil & Gas, which is a consortium made of the National Oil Corporation of Libya and Eni North Africa, has awarded a contract to Saipem company for developing the Bouri Gas Utilisation Project (BGUP) in Libya which is worth approximately $1 billion.
According to the contract, Saipem will take over upgrading the platforms and the facilities of the Bouri gas field. This will be done through implementing the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of an approximately 5,000-ton Gas Recovery Module (GRM), onto the existing DP4 offshore facility, together with the laying of 28 km of pipelines connecting the DP3, DP4 and Sabratha platforms.
It also will execute main lifting operations by the company’s semi-submersible crane vessel Saipem 7,000. With this award, Saipem confirms its commitment and competitive positioning offshore Libya.
Experts expect that completing the project will significantly contribute to reducing CO2 emissions in Libya.
